PHOENIX (AP) -The Arizona Diamondbacks have put Brandon Webb on the 15-day disabled list due to tightness in his pitching shoulder.
Monday’s move is retroactive to April 7, the day after Webb gave up six runs in four innings on opening day against Colorado.
To fill the roster spot, the Diamondbacks recalled righthander Bobby Korecky from Triple-A Reno. Korecky will pitch out of the bullpen.
Yusmeiro Petit took Webb’s turn in the rotation on Saturday.
Webb’s only other trip to the disabled list as a major leaguer came in 2003, his rookie season, when Webb missed 15 days with right elbow tendinitis.
Webb says he started feeling tightness in the back of his shoulder during his last spring training start.
