NEW YORK (AP) -Arthur Richman, a longtime baseball writer who went on to spent four decades as an executive with the New York Mets and Yankees, has died. He was 83.
The Yankees said Wednesday that Richman died in his sleep, with his wife Martha and friends by his side.
Richman’s biggest contribution to the Yankees came in 1995, when he recommended that the team hire Joe Torre as manager. Richman had worked together with Torre in the 1970s with the Mets.
