PHOENIX (AP) -Oakland Athletics ace Justin Duchscherer pitched off a mound for the first time in three weeks.
The All-Star starter, nursing a sore right elbow, threw 25 pitches in the bullpen on Friday.
Duchscherer has been sidelined almost the entire spring training. He threw all of his pitches, working at about 90 percent full velocity.
He is not sure what the next step will be, but he is at least a week from getting into an exhibition game.
It is too late for Duchscherer to get ready to start the season in the A’s rotation, but there has been some talk about him beginning the season in the bullpen.
