BRADENTON, Fla. (AP) – Pittsburgh Pirates owner Bob Nutting is raising the stakes on his team in 2015.
Nutting said Wednesday that ”expectations for ’15 are higher” after the Pirates earned back-to-back wild-card berths in 2013 and 2014.
Nutting is also embracing a higher profile in Major League Baseball as his team’s fortunes rise. The owner was placed on baseball’s executive council by new commissioner Rob Manfred. The executive council advises the commissioner on all important policy matters.
Nutting indicated he would be in favor of an international draft if it comes up in negotiations when the current collective bargaining agreement expires next year.
