SAN FRANCISCO (AP) -Federal prosecutors say they plan to have Barry Bonds’ personal trainer jailed again if he refuses to testify at the slugger’s trial next month.
In court documents filed Friday, the prosecutors say they intend to call Greg Anderson to the witness stand so he can testify whether he knows if Bonds took steroids.
Anderson has said he will refuse to testify. He already has spent more than a year in prison for refusing to testify in front of a federal grand jury investigating Bonds.
A judge could jail Anderson for the duration of the trial, which is expected to begin March 2 and last about a month.
Bonds has pleaded not guilty to charges that he lied in 2003 to a grand jury when he said he never knowingly using steroids.
