ATLANTA (AP) The Atlanta Braves have signed former New York Mets reliever Carlos Torres to a minor league deal with an invitation to spring training.
Torres has a 4.26 ERA in six major league seasons, including the last three with the Mets. The right-hander began his career with the Chicago White Sox in 2009.
The 33-year-old Torres was 8-6 with a 3.06 ERA with the Mets in 2014. His ERA climbed to 4.68 in 59 games last season. He was designated for assignment following the season and opted for free agency.
Torres will have a chance to compete for a setup role in the Braves’ bullpen.
