ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) -Tampa Bay Rays reliever Chad Bradford is expected to be sidelined three to four months after undergoing arthroscopic surgery on his right elbow.
The procedure was performed by Dr. James Andrews last week in Birmingham, Ala. Bradford was 1-0 with a 1.42 ERA in 21 appearances after the AL champions acquired him from the Baltimore Orioles in August.
The Rays also announced infielder Morgan Ensberg had agreed to a minor-league deal with an invitation to spring training and former Seattle manager John McLaren had been hired as a special assignment scout.
Ensberg appeared in 28 games for the New York Yankees last season, batting .203 with one homer and four RBIs. He spent parts of the previous six seasons with the Houston Astros and San Diego Padres and is a career .263 hitter with 110 home runs.
