BALTIMORE (AP) -Reliever George Sherrill and the Baltimore Orioles agreed Saturday to terms on a one-year contract, avoiding arbitration.
Sherrill made the AL All-Star team in 2008 during a season in which he went 3-5 with a 4.73 ERA and 31 saves.
Obtained in February 2008 in a trade with the Seattle Mariners, the left-hander earned the closing job in spring training. He threw 2 1-3 scoreless innings in the All-Star game at Yankee Stadium.
