MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -The Minnesota Twins haven’t had to worry about cutting the grass for a long time.
Larry DiVito will be the team’s head groundskeeper, the Twins announced Wednesday, the first such hire since 1961. When the Twins moved to the Metrodome in 1982, they no longer needed a groundskeeper for the artificial turf.
Now they do, with Target Field set to open next spring, and DiVito has the job. He was head groundskeeper for the Washington Nationals for the past three seasons and has also worked for the Los Angeles Dodgers and Triple-A Pawtucket Red Sox.
