BALTIMORE (AP) -Adam Loewen and the Baltimore Orioles agreed to a one-year contract Friday.
The left-hander will receive $816,000 if he spends the entire season in the majors – the maximum 20 percent cut from the $1.02 million he made last year. He will get $663,000 if he’s sent to the minors.
Loewen made the rotation out of spring training last year, but did not pitch after May 1 following a stress fracture in his left elbow. He underwent surgery on June 14 and is expected to be ready when pitchers and catchers hold their first spring training workout next month.
He went 2-0 with a 3.56 ERA in six starts for Baltimore in 2007.
