CHICAGO (AP) -The Chicago Cubs and utility infielder Ronny Cedeno have agreed to a one-year contract worth $822,500 and avoided salary arbitration.
Cedeno batted .269 with two home runs and 28 RBIs in 99 games for the Cubs last season. He saw action at second base, shortstop, third base, left field and center field.
The 25-year-old Cedeno is a career .252 hitter with 13 homers and 88 RBIs in 329 major league games. He made his debut with the Cubs in 2005.
His deal was agreed to Thursday and announced Friday.
