AL Streak Still Alive

Pitchers' duels or slugfests. Blown leads or failed comebacks. Even that infamous tie game.
For some reason the National League just can't seem to come up with an All-Star game win and the players are struggling to come up with explanations following a 5-4 loss to the American League on Tuesday night.

Ichiro All Star MVP

On a night of tricky hops, Ichiro Suzuki and the American League also bounced back to win.
Instead of a Barry Bonds splash shot, the defining hit at Tuesday's All-Star game was Suzuki's inside-the-park home run, the first in the game's history. |

Guerrero Wins Derby

With Barry Bonds sitting out, this derby was dry - and Vladimir Guerrero was San Francisco's home run king for a day.
The Los Angeles Angels slugger won the Home Run Derby on Monday night, hitting 17 homers and beating Toronto's Alex Rios 3-2 in the final round of the All-Star competition. |

Bonds Batting Second

Everyone was buzzing about Barry Bonds.
National League manager Tony La Russa had just posted his lineup for Tuesday night's All-Star game and Bonds, baseball's prodigy and pariah, was batting second, rather than his customary cleanup spot. |

Braves Hang On
A questionable strike call helped the Atlanta Braves hold on against the team with the best record in the NL.
Closer Bob Wickman came into the bottom of the ninth with a four-run lead against the San Diego Padres, and escaped with a 5-4 win Sunday night after Marcus Giles took a called third strike to end the game with runners on first and second.
