The Mets look to bounce back from a loss to the Marlins as prospect Josh Turner came up and allowed five hits and no runs in seven innings. The Mets send another prospect out in Collin McHugh, who is making his first start. McHugh, who has replaced starter Scott Atchinson on the roster and now is replacing Jon Niese in the rotation. He's pitched just twice in relief, allowing four runs in three innings. But the talented 25-year old pitched well as a starter in AAA Las Vegas, going 3-2 with a 2.74 ERA in eight starts in the tough-hitting Pacific Coast League. He'll take on Jose Fernandez (2-3, 3.78 ERA), who pitched well against the Mets in April, allowing three runs in nine overall innings with six hits. However, Fernandez couldn't even reach four innings (3 1/3) in his last start as he was shelled by Tampa Bay, 10-6 on May 27. The bottom line is that the Mets are a very small favorite against the Marlins, coming off a loss. This is good value for a team playing much better against the worst team in the league.
