Red Sox Season Odds

Will the offseason additions that the Boston Red Sox made be enough for them to outgun the Yankees in the American League this season? Let’s take a look at their odds.

Bet 2010 World Series Odds

The Red Sox opened up their checkbooks this offseason to acquire stopgap players to help them keep competitive with the Yankees in the AL East. They acquired starter John Lackey, who along with Josh Beckett and Jon Lester forms one of the best 1-2-3 punches in baseball. Boston also upgraded their defense with the signing of outfielder Mike Cameron and gave their offense a boost with the acquisition of third baseman Adrian Beltre.

But will it be enough? Compared to the rest of the league, the Red Sox still have a solid offense compiled of Beltre, David Ortiz, Victor Martinez and Dustin Pedroia. But this is not a young club and the window of opportunity to win another World Series is closing on Theo Epstein’s organization.

Oddsmakers from online sports book SPORTSBETTING.com have made the Red Sox 6/1 to win the 2010 World Series and 3/1 to win the American League Pennant. They have 1.4/1 odds to unseat the Yankees in the AL East and their over/under total for wins has been set at 94.5.

With their starting pitching, the Red Sox can compete with anyone. And assuming all of their veteran hitters stay healthy, they certainly have enough offense to battle the Yankees again in the division. While the Bronx Bombers remain the favorites to repeat, nobody should fall asleep on Boston this year. Plus, don’t forget that if the BoSox need a player at the deadline this year, Epstein isn’t afraid to make a move.
