The Tigers are 16-9 on the season and 8-4 on the road while the Royals are 16-8 overall and 9-3 at home. Detroit has Anibal Sanchez (1-3, 5.46 ERA) on the mound to face Jeremy Guthrie (1-1, 5.87) of the Royals. The Tigers picked up a 2-1 win on Saturday to give themselves a chance to split the four-game series. The Royals have won three of their last four against Detroit and the two have hit the under in four of their last five meetings.
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Detroit is the slight favorite on the road, as the Tigers are getting odds of -110 to win, while the Royals are getting odds of +100 to prevail. The over/under total for the game has been set at 8.5 runs.
Detroit has been in somewhat of a funk, as they have lost three of their last five games and their last two starts for Sanchez. Detroit has hit the under in its last two outings. Kansas City has won four of its last six games, including an 11-5 win over Cleveland in Guthrie’s last start. The Royals have been trending with the over as of late, pushing or hitting it in five of their last seven.
