Yankees re-sign Chase Headley
NEW YORK, NY (The Spread) – On Monday the Yankees re-signed third baseman Chase Headley to a new four-year contract that is reportedly worth $25 million.
FOX Sports’ Ken Rosenthal was the first to report about the Yankees striking a new deal with Headley. The 30-year-old also drew serious interest this winter from the Giants, Astros and Marlins, but the Yankees outbid them to bring Headley back to the Bronx. Headley said on Monday that he preferred re-signing with the Yankees all along.
Headley came to the Yankees via trade with the Padres this past season and batted .243 on the season but .262 in 58 games with New York. He also blasted six home runs, scored 28 runs and finished with 17 RBI for the Yankees.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Yankees are 25/1 long shots to win the 2015 World Series. Odds wise, that puts them in the same category as their cross-town rivals, the Mets.
