World Series Game 1 Odds


SAN FRANCISCO, CA (TheSpread) – The 2012 World Series gets underway on Wednesday night. Here is a look at the odds for the opening game of the series.

Game 1 of the World Series features the San Francisco Giants hosting the Detroit Tigers at 8:05PM ET (View Matchup). The Tigers are sending their ace Justin Verlander to the mound to face Barry Zito of the Giants. According to oddsmakers at, the Tigers are favored to win Game 1, as they have odds of -165, while the Giants have a money line of +155. The over/under total for this game has been set at 7 runs. Detroit is 95-76 overall and 41-45 on the road while San Francisco is 101-73 overall and 51-36 at home. The Tigers and Giants are both 3-0 in the last three starts for both Verlander and Zito, respectively.

When it comes to the series, oddsmakers see the Tigers as the favorite to win, as they have odds of -185 to win the World Series while the Giants have a money line of +155 to win it all. These two teams haven’t met since 2011 and the Giants won two of three at home from Detroit. The home team has won four of the last five in this series and the teams have split the last 10 meetings, 5-5. San Francisco has home field for the series due to the N.L. winning the All-Star Game.
