Oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv have installed Tigers’ slugger Miguel Cabrera as a 5/1 favorite to win this year’s World Series MVP, followed by Detroit ace Justin Verlander at 6/1. Giants’ catcher and likely regular season MVP Buster Posey has the third best odds and the best chances to win for San Francisco at 13/2.

Prince Fielder is another player that is in the mix this year, as he’s 8/1 to win this year’s World Series MVP award. Marco Scutaro, meanwhile, is 12/1 after winning the NLCS MVP award after hitting .500 for San Francisco in the club’s win over the Cardinals. Delmon Young of Detroit, Pablo Sandoval of the Giants, and Hunter Pence of San Francisco are also 12/1, respectively.

Continuing with the 2012 World Series odds, Angel Pagan and Austin Jackson are 14/1, respectively, while Brandon Belt and Jhonny Peralta are 20/1, respectively. Alex Avila, Avisail Garcia, Omar Infante, Brandon Crawford and Gregor Blanco are all 25/1, respectively. The long shot to win this year’s MVP is Detroit’s Andy Dirks at 30/1.

The 2012 World Series will start Wednesday night at 8:00PM ET as Barry Zito opposes Verlander in the pitching matchup. The Tigers have been off for nearly a week after sweeping the Yankees in the ALCS, while the Giants will be fresh off their 9-0 win over the Cardinals in Game 7 of the NLCS in San Francisco.
