According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, Ortiz is a 15/2 favorite to win this year's World Series MVP, while teammate Dustin Pedroia is currently 8/1 to win. Not surprisingly, Carlos Beltran is the Cardinal with the best odds at 9/1, while teammate Matt Holliday is 10/1 and both Yadier Molina and Allen Craig are 12/1, respectively.

Jacoby Ellsbury and Jon Lester are also 12/1, respectively, to win this year's World Series MVP, while St. Louis ace Adam Wainwright is 14/1. NLCS MVP Michael Wacha is 15/1 to duplicate the feat in the World Series, as are Matt Carpenter, Mike Napoli, Clay Buchholz and Koji Uehara.

The current long shots to win the 2013 World Series MVP are Xander Bogaerts at 16/1, David Freese and Trevor Rosenthal at 18/1, respectively, and Matt Adams and Shane Victorino at 20/1, respectively. Of the players listed, Boston shortstop Stephen Drew has the longest MVP odds to win at 25/1.

Ortiz hit .091 in the ALCS versus the Tigers but his lone hit was a grand slam to help the Red Sox beat Detroit in Game 2 of the series. Ellsbury hit .318 in the ALCS while Napoli hit .300 and Pedroia hit .273. One interesting development to watch in this series is what the Red Sox do with Ortiz and Napoli when the series shifts back to St. Louis for a potential three games. Napoli will likely come off the bench as Boston doesn't want to sit Ortiz.

For the Cardinals, nobody outside of part-time starter Shane Robinson hit over .300 in the NLCS although the club did scratch across nine runs in their Game 6 victory against Clayton Kershaw. Beltran hit .286 for the series and was 3-for-4 in the aforementioned Game 6, while Carpenter hit .261 and Molina hit .277. Holliady hit just .200 and went 0-for-5 in Game 6.
