Astros roll in Game 4
Houston recorded an 8-3 victory Thursday night in Game 4 of the ALCS at New York to take a 3-1 series advantage. George Springer and Carlos Correa helped pace the Astros offense as they both finished 1-for-5 with a home run and three RBIs. Alex Bregman was 1-for-4 with a double, a walk and two runs scored. Ryan Pressly picked up the win in relief as he threw two-thirds of a scoreless inning of relief with two strikeouts and one walk. Verlander gets the start tonight for Houston after giving up two earned runs on five hits with seven strikeouts and two walks over 6 2/3 innings in Game 2 at home as the Astros prevailed 3-2 in 11 innings.
Yankees stumble to third straight loss
New York fell 8-3 at home Thursday night in Game 4 of the ALCS against Houston to drop into a 3-1 series deficit. Gary Sanchez helped lead the Yankees offense as he was 1-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs. D.J. LeMahieu went 2-for-4 with a double plus a walk. Aaron Hicks ended the game 1-for-3 with two walks and a stolen base. Masahiro Tanaka took the loss as he surrendered four runs (three earned) on four hits over five innings, striking out one and walking two. James Paxton takes the mound tonight for New York after giving up one run on four hits with three strikeouts and two walks across 2 1/3 innings in the Game 2 3-2 11-inning loss in Houston.
MLB Betting Trends
Houston
The Astros are 10-3 in their last 13 road games. Houston is 30-9 in the last 39 Verlander road starts.
New York
The Yankees are 54-19 in their last 73 home games. New York is 6-0 in the last six Paxton home starts.
Prediction:
I rarely bet teams with left-handed starters against the Astros as they posted an .868 OPS against lefties during the regular season, although they have struggled against lefties in the postseason on a much smaller sample size. But I think Houston gets to Paxton early with maybe a home run with a man or two on base and then rides Verlander for most of the innings before the bullpen finishes it off. New York has seemed to run out of gas in the Bronx and I expect the better team to close it out here.
