Dodgers rally in 7th, 8th innings
Los Angeles scored twice in the seventh inning and then two more times in the eighth to overcome a 3-0 deficit in its 4-3 Game 2 victory at Milwaukee. Chris Taylor was 2-for-4 and scored a run from the leadoff spot in the win. Justin Turner finished 2-for-4 with a 2-run homer. Max Muncy was 1-for-1 with a walk and a run off the bench. Joc Pederson went 2-for-2 off the bench. Pedro Baez picked up the win in relief as he struck out one and walked one in 1 1/3 innings of relief.
Bullpen struggles for Brewers
After Wade Miley threw 5 2/3 shutout innings Saturday, the bullpen faltered and blew the lead. Jeremy Jeffress suffered the loss as he gave up two earned runs on three hits with one strikeout and one walk in one inning of work. Lorenzo Cain finished 1-for-4 plus a walk as the leadoff hitter., while Christian Yelich was also 1-for-4 with a walk. Travis Shaw and Orlando Arcia were each 1-for-4 with a solo home run. Miley helped his own cause as he was 2-for-2 at the plate with a double and a run scored.
Jhoulys Chacin (15-8, 3.50 ERA) will start today for Milwaukee, while Los Angeles will counter with Walker Buehler (8-5, 2.62).
MLB Betting Trends
Milwaukee
The under is 8-1 in the last nine Brewers games on Mondays. Milwaukee is 13-3 in its last 16 Monday games.
Los Angeles
The Dodgers are 8-2 in their last 10 home playoff games. Los Angeles is 18-6 in its last 24 games overall.
Prediction:
Milwaukee missed a grand opportunity to pounce on this series with two home wins and instead the momentum, if there is such a thing, sits with Los Angeles as the series shifts to its home park. Despite Buehler’s rookie status, I trust him here as he has put together a fantastic campaign. Los Angeles should be able to get a few runs off Chacin, who has overachieved this season, and ride Buehler plus the bullpen the rest of the way in front of the home crowd.
