Phillies drop fourth straight
Philadelphia has not won any of its last four games and after being eliminated from playoff contention over the weekend, has nothing to play for this week except pride. The Phillies wrapped up their series at the NL East-clinching Braves Sunday with a 2-1 loss. Scott Kingery was 2-for-3 with a solo home run in the third inning for the lone Philly score. Maikel Franco ended the contest 1-for-3 with a walk. Aaron Nola took the loss as he allowed two earned runs on four hits with six strikeouts and a walk over six innings.
Rockies sweep at D-backs
Colorado recorded three important wins at Arizona over the weekend including Sunday afternoon’s 2-0 triumph. Kyle Freeland spun a gem as he threw seven shutout innings with seven hits allowed plus a walk while striking out six to earn the win. Wade Davis threw a perfect ninth inning with a strikeout for his 41st save of the season. Charlie Blackmon was 1-for-4 with a walk from the leadoff spot, while D.J. LeMahieu was 2-for-4 with a walk and a run scored. Nolan Arenado finished 1-for-3 with a double, a walk and an RBI. Garrett Hampson was 2-for-4 with a double.
Zach Eflin (11-9, 4.09 ERA) will start today for the Phillies, while the Rockies turn to Jon Gray (11-8, 5.07).
MLB Betting Trends
Philadelphia
The Phillies are 7-20 in their last 27 road games. Philadelphia is 20-43 in its last 63 Monday games.
Colorado
The Rockies are 26-11 in their last 37 home games. The under is 21-8-1 in the last 30 Colorado home games.
Prediction:
Colorado is playing for something. Philadelphia isn’t. It’s as simple as that. I’m comfortable with taking the runline bet as Philadelphia’s offense has been dreadful lately and The Rockies are capable of big outbursts at Coors Field.
