Padres drop fourth straight
San Diego was doubled up on the road Sunday afternoon as it fell 10-5 at Colorado to drop to 68-81 overall and 33-41 on the road. Wil Myers paced the Padres offensively as he finished 2-for-3 with a home run, a double, two walks and two RBIs. Josh Naylor ended the contest 1-for-5 with a homer and two RBIs. Luis Urias was 2-for-4 with a solo homer plus a double. Cal Quantrill took the loss as he surrendered four earned runs on six hits with three strikeouts and three walks over three innings pitched. Garrett Richards will make his first MLB start since July of 2018 tonight after rehabbing from an injury.
Braun socks go-ahead grand slam
Ryan Braun put Milwaukee ahead in the top of the ninth inning with a grand slam Sunday afternoon to lift his squad to a 7-6 victory at St. Louis. It was the only hit of the day in five at-bats for Braun. Cory Spangenberg went 2-for-3 with a homer and two RBIs. Eric Thames finished 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored. Matt Albers retired both batters he faced with a strikeout to pick up the win in relief. Josh Hader notched the save as he allowed two earned runs on one hit with two strikeouts and one walk over one inning. Zach Davies draws the start tonight for the Brewers as he comes in with a 9-7 record, 3.77 ERA and 1.35 WHIP plus 94 strikeouts over 145 2/3 innings pitched.
MLB Betting Trends
San Diego
The Padres are 0-5 in their last five road games. San Diego is 2-7 in its last nine games versus a team with a winning record.
Milwaukee
The Brewers are 4-1 in their last five home games. Milwaukee is 2-5 in its last seven Monday games.
Prediction:
The Brewers are on an absolute tear even in the absence of star Christian Yelich. Although I often fade a team the day after a thrilling win such as the Brewers had last night, I don’t like that to happen in this spot. Richards will be on a pitch count and the Brewers should be able to feast on middle relief, whille Davies should be sufficient enough and have run support to make up for a mistake or two. Go with the home team here.
