Joey Votto hit a two-run homer off Adam Wainwright in the Reds’ win over the Cardinals on Friday. Votto, who came into the night in a 4-for-30 slump, has faced Wainwright more than any other pitcher in his career and hit .333 with four homers and six doubles in 66 career plate appearances against him. The homer tonight was his seventh of the year.
St. Louis Cardinals DFS Spin
Cardinals placed RHP Giovanny Gallegos on the 10-day injured list with a right groin strain. Gallegos suffered the injury on Thursday during an appearance against the Tigers. It’s not clear at this point how severe the strain is, but obviously he has a short window to recover. The Cards don’t figure to name a closer in Gallegos’ absence, but Andrew Miller and Ryan Helsley might have first dibs.
Reds vs. Cardinals Betting Prediction
The under has been a great play when these two teams have met, cashing in all four of the last four meetings at Busch Stadium and in five of the last seven meetings overall. The under is also 20-7 in the Reds’ last 27 road games, is 5-1 in their last six games overall and is 7-1 in their last eight games when they’re an underdog (as they are tonight). The under is also 6-0-1 in the Cards’ last seven divisional matchups and is 4-0-1 in their last five games when they’re favored.
