Rays topple Jays
Tampa Bay completed its home series with Toronto Sunday afternoon with an 8-3 victory to improve to 86-59 overall and 43-32 at home. Avisail Garcia helped lead the Rays offensively as he finished 3-for-4 with a home run, two doubles, two runs scored and three RBIs. Austin Meadows went 2-for-4 with a solo homer and three runs. Daniel Robertson ended the contest 1-for-3 with a triple and two RBIs. Trevor Richards picked up the win in relief as he allowed one hit with two strikeouts and no walks over 2 2/3 innings of scoreless baseball. Ryan Yarbrough gets the start tonight as he enters with an 11-3 record, 3.49 ERA and 0.90 WHIP plus 102 strikeouts over 121 1/3 innings pitched.
Rangers earn four-game road sweep
Texas won all four of its games at Baltimore last week including a 10-4 decision Sunday afternoon in the series finale. Mike Minor picked up the win as he gave up two earned runs on six hits with three strikeouts and one walk over eight innings. Rougned Odor helped pace the Rangers offense as he finished 2-for-5 with a solo home run, a walk and two runs scored. Ronald Guzman was 3-for-5 with a solo homer, a double and two runs. Shin-Soo Choo ended the game 3-for-6 with a run scored and two RBIs. Jose Trevino was 3-for-4 with a run and an RBI. Lance Lynn draws the start tonight for Texas as he comes in with an 11-10 record, 3.81 ERA and 1.26 WHIP plus 209 strikeouts over 181 2/3 innings of work.
MLB Betting Trends
Tampa Bay
The Rays are 4-1 in their last five series openers. Tampa Bay is 1-4 in its last five road games.
Texas
The Rangers are 0-6 in the last six Lynn starts. Texas is 10-25 in its last 35 Tuesday games.
Prediction:
Lynn hasn’t had a lot of luck lately, but he’s had a solid season overall and has pitched better than his numbers suggest. I think we get another solid outing out of him here, but Yarbrough also probably isn’t going to give up a lot and the Rays are usually solid once it turns over to the bullpen. For me, the best play on the board is the under.
