Giants eye back-to-back victories in desert
After outlasting Arizona in 12 innings last night, does San Francisco have enough left in the tank to make it two in a row this evening?
The Giants can claim their 13th series in the last 14 at Chase Field by toppling Chip Hale’s club again. Online sports book Bovada.lv certainly likes the visitors’ chances, listing them as 1.5-run favorites. The Diamondbacks, on the other hand, represent +153 underdogs.
Bruce Bochy used seven relievers on Friday, as San Francisco snagged a much-needed 7-6 triumph. The skipper hopes Johnny Cueto’s presence on the hill shortly will ensure a less frantic middle match. In 10 assignments since the All-Star break, though, the righty is just 1-4 with a plus-3.50 ERA. Most recently, he limited the Cubs to one run and five hits over seven innings.
As for the scuffling hosts, Hale deploys Archie Bradley. The former top prospect has endured an up-and-down rookie campaign, though August was a particularly vexing experience. Bradley went 1-2 with a 7.14 ERA for the month.

In order to keep gaining ground on the Dodgers in the National League West, the Giants must get better work from their bullpen. They’ve blown a staggering 27 saves, with Santiago Casilla responsible for eight of them. Yet the squad shouldn’t have to worry about a nail-biting finish this evening. Bank on Cueto to secure his in a relatively easy fashion.
