Chicago claimed a 6-1 victory Tuesday night at home over Seattle in interleague action to improve to 75-63 overall and 47-24 at home. Kyle Schwarber helped lead the Cubs offense as he finished 3-for-3 with a solo home run, a double and two runs scored. Nick Castellanos ended the contest 2-for-3 with a homer and four RBIs. Willson Contreras was 2-for-3 with a solo home run plus a walk. Jon Lester picked up the win as he threw six shutout frames with six hits allowed, nine strikeouts and four walks. Jose Quintana draws the start today for Chicago as he enters with a 12-8 record, 3.90 ERA and 1.28 WHIP plus 137 strikeouts across 152 1/3 innings of work.
Brewers double up Astros
Milwaukee claimed a 4-2 home win Tuesday night over Houston in interleague play to move to 71-67 overall and 40-30 at home. Eric Thames ended the contest 2-for-3 with a home run and three RBIs. Yasmani Grandal was 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored. Ryan Braun went 1-for-4 with a run and an RBI. Jordan Lyles picked up the win as he gave up two earned runs on six hits with two strikeouts and no walks over 6 1/3 innings. Chase Anderson gets the start tonight for the Brewers as he comes in with a 6-4 record, 4.58 ERA and 1.29 WHIP plus 106 strikeouts over 116 innings pitched.

Milwaukee is in must-win mode this series as it needs to win at least three out of four games to make a move in the NL Wild Card standings. There isn’t much difference in the starting pitcher matchup here, so I’m going to give the edge to the hosts. While the Brewers offense hasn’t been in great form lately, it’s also dealt with some tough opponents. I’ll take the Brewers here at plus money.
