Mets fall in series finale
After winning the first two games of its series at Philadelphia, New York was unable to complete the sweep Sunday afternoon as it fell 5-2. Pete Alonso paced the Mets offense as he finished 2-for-3 with a solo home run plus a walk. Wilson Ramos ended the game 1-for-4 with a double. Todd Frazier went 1-for-3. Daniel Zimora took the loss as he allowed one earned run on one hit without recording an out. Noah Syndergaard draws the start today as he enters with a 9-7 record, 4.14 ERA and 1.21 WHIP with 161 strikeouts over 163 innings pitched.
Nats win fourth straight
Washington completed a three-game sweep at Miami Sunday afternoon as it claimed a 9-3 victory. Juan Soto went 3-for-4 with a home run, two doubles, two runs scored and three RBIs to help lead the offense. Ryan Zimmerman finished 1-for-3 with a home run, a walk and two RBIs in his first game back from injury. Anthony Rendon ended the game 2-for-3 with a homer, a walk, two runs and two RBIs. Yan Gomes was 1-for-4 with a solo home run. Patrick Corbin picked up the win as he allowed three earned runs on three hits with eight strikeouts plus three walks over six innings. Joe Ross will take the mound today for the Nats as he comes in with a 3-3 record, 5.36 ERA and 1.65 WHIP with 41 strikeouts over 50 1/3 innings of work.
MLB Betting Trends
New York
The Mets are 4-0 in their last four road games. New York is 9-4 in the last 13 Syndergaard starts.
Washington
The Nationals are 4-0 in their last four games versus the NL East. Washington is 5-0 in the last five Ross starts.
Prediction:
Baltimore has shown itself to be the better team at the plate in this series and I think the Orioles have the edge on the mound today as well. Hellickson seems to be settling in nicely with Baltimore and can produce another good start against a lackluster Oakland offense. The Baltimore hitters should be able to get to Graveman, who has looked really rough in recent starts.
