Boston Red Sox Fantasy Spin
J.D. Martinez went 3-for-4 with two home runs and a career-high seven RBI to lead the Red Sox to an 11-0 victory over the Padres on Friday. Martinez clobbered a three-run homer off Padres’ starter Chris Paddack to put the Red Sox on the board in the opening frame and crushed another three-run dinger — his 30th round-tripper of the season — off reliever Eric Yardley in the sixth inning to close out the scoring in this one. It was his fifth multi-homer effort of the 2019 campaign. He also drove in an additional run with a sacrifice fly in the fourth inning and singled in the eighth inning as well. The 32-year-old veteran slugger has been simply outstanding in the second half, hitting .329 (51-for-155) with 12 home runs and 34 RBI in 39 games since the All-Star break.
San Diego Padres Fantasy Spin
Manuel Margot went 2-for-4 in the Padres’ lopsided defeat at the hands of the Red Sox on Friday. Margot was the lone bright spot in an otherwise dismal performance for the Padres’ offense. He accounted for nearly half of their five hits combined in the shutout loss. The 24-year-old outfielder is hitting .244/.320/.404 with 52 runs scored, 10 home runs, 28 RBI and 17 stolen bases in 343 plate appearances. He’s a sneaky-good fantasy option, especially in deeper formats, over the final month of the regular season thanks to his stolen base upside atop the Padres’ lineup.
MLB Betting Trends
Boston
The Red Sox are 6-2 in their last eight games overall and are 20-6 in their last 26 interleague games.
San Diego
The Padres are 1-4 in their last five games at Petco and are 1-4 in their last five interleague home games.
Prediction:
San Diego has been terrible when Dinelson Lamet starts, posting a 3-12 record in his last 15 outings and an 0-7 mark in his last seven outings at home. The Padres are also 1-11 in Lamet’s last 12 starts versus an opponent with a winning record and are 0-6 in his last six outings when coming off a quality start in his last appearance. Meanwhile, the Red Sox have won six of Eovaldi’s last seven starts overall and are 4-1 in his last five outings on the road.
The Pick: Boston Red Sox -125
