Dodgers’ Hill takes no-decision vs. Rockies
Rich Hill allowed three runs — two earned — over six innings Sunday in a no-decision versus the Rockies. Hill struck out four, didn’t issue a walk, and gave up only four hits, but one of those hits was a home run by Charlie Blackmon and Colorado ultimately won the game in walk-off fashion. Hill remains 5-4 on the season, with a 3.57 ERA, 1.25 WHIP, and 90/30 K/BB ratio in 85 2/3 innings. He’ll get the Mariners on the road next.
Mariners’ Ramirez fires five scoreless innings vs. Astros
Erasmo Ramirez fired five shutout innings in a no-decision against the Astros on Sunday. Ramirez threw the proverbial kitchen sink and pounded the strike-zone against an injury-depleted Astros lineup, needing just 79 pitches (54 strikes) to complete five scoreless frames. He scattered three singles, struck out three and did not walk a batter. The 28-year-old righty is replacing Felix Hernandez, who was demoted to the bullpen after posting a lackluster 5.73 ERA in 23 starts. A stellar outing like this should cement his spot in the rotation moving forward. He’s 0-2 with a 6.75 ERA and 9/1 K/BB ratio in three starts.
