San Francisco Giants Fantasy Spin
Buster Posey went 2-for-5 with an RBI double and a run scored in Thursday’s win over the Diamondbacks. Posey drove an Alex Young pitch to the right-center field gap in the fifth inning, bringing in the runner on second base. Posey scored a batter later on Evan Longoria’s two-run homer. The multi-hit game was the 32-year-old’s first since July 28, and the extra-base hit was just his fourth this month. It’s been a disappointing offensive year for the aging backstop, who’s hitting .257/.324/.392 in 90 games overall.
Arizona Diamondbacks Fantasy Spin
Mike Leake was obliterated for eight runs over five innings in a loss to the Dodgers on Sunday. Leake surrendered a staggering 10 hits, including a season-high four home runs. He struck out two batters and also issued a pair of walks. The 31-year-old veteran remains a solid innings-eater, but his fantasy value is strictly limited to deeper fantasy formats and NL-Only leagues because of occasional blowups like this one. He owns a pedestrian 4.58 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 105/22 K/BB ratio across 24 starts this season. He’s not a bad streaming option against the Giants in the pitcher-friendly confines of Oracle Park on Friday.
MLB Betting Trends
San Francisco
The Giants have won four of their last five games overall.
Arizona
The Diamondbacks are 5-2 in their last seven games after scoring two runs or fewer in their previous game, as they did last night when they were shut out at home.
Prediction:
The Giants have beaten the Diamondbacks in five of their last six games at Chase Field and while they haven’t been profitable when Jeff Samardzija starts against Arizona (2-5 in his last seven outings versus the D-Backs), they are 6-0 in his last six road starts. San Francisco has also won six of Samardzija’s last eight starts overall and are now 14-6 in its last 20 road games.
The Pick: San Francisco Giants +115
