Jays edge Royals again
The Blue Jays picked up their second straight 6-5 win over the Royals on Wednesday to take two of three in the series so far. Toronto is now 55-65 overall and 26-33 on the road. Toronto is putting up 4.46 runs per game on offense this year while allowing 5.06 per contest.
Sam Gaviglio gets the start for the Blue Jays this evening. Gaviglio is 2-5 through 16 starts this year and has a 4.86 ERA with a 1.42 WHIP. Gaviglio has racked up 81 strikeouts and 27 walks over 83.1 innings of play.
Royals drop another
The Royals have lost five of their last six following another loss to the Blue Jays. Kansas City is 36-84 overall and 17-44 at home. The Royals are scoring just 3.68 runs per game this season while allowing 5.48 per contest.
The Royals are giving the ball to Glenn Sparkman tonight. It will be his first start of the season after making eight relief appearances. Sparkman has an 0-1 record with a 5.06 ERA and a 1.63 WHIP. He has pitched just 16.0 innings this year and has 14 strikeouts with seven walks.
MLB Betting Trends
Toronto
The Blue Jays have lost Gaviglio’s last four road starts, but they have won five of their last seven road games overall.
Kansas City
The Royals have won 9 of their last 13 Game 4’s in a series, but they are just 5-21 in their last 26 against the AL East.
Prediction:
Gaviglio has really been a dumpster fire on the road, posting a 1-4 record with an 8.10 ERA. I don’t love the Royals. They have a bad record for a reason and they are starting an unknown today. However, Toronto has shown an inability to win consistently. Part of the reason for that is struggles on the road. I think they find a way to slip up again tonight.
The Pick: Kansas City Royals +110
