Athletics bounce back
Oakland bounced back from Friday’s 4-3 loss by picking up a 7-0 win on Saturday. Oakland has won eight of its last 10 games. The Athletics are 69-48 overall and 36-25 on the road. Oakland is putting up 4.73 runs per game this season while allowing 4.18 per contest.
Trevor Cahill gets the start for the Athletics today. He is making his 14th start of the year and comes in with a 4-2 record, a 1.07 WHIP and a 3.12 ERA. Cahill has pitched a total of 75.0 innings this year and has 75 strikeouts with 23 walks.
Angels shutout
The Angels had their four-game win streak come to an end on Saturday in the 7-0 loss to the Athletics. Los Angeles is now 59-59 overall and 33-29 at home. The Angels are putting up 4.53 runs per game this season while allowing 4.25 per contest.
Reliever Taylor Cole gets the start for the Angels on Sunday. He is making his first start, but has appeared in eight games and has a 1.59 ERA and a 0.76 WHIP. Cole has 19 strikeouts and five walks over 17.0 innings of work.
MLB Betting Trends
Oakland
The Athletics have won seven of their last eight division games and 20 of their last 28 after a win.
Los Angeles
The Angels are just 2-7 in their last 9 Sunday games and 2-6 in their last eight against a winning team.
Prediction:
I like Oakland, but Cahill has been a dumpster fire on the road. In six starts on the road, he has a 6.44 ERA over 29 innings of work. Los Angeles hasn’t been consistent, but the Angels still play well enough to pick up some good wins here and there. Taylor Cole has some promise as he gets his first start. Los Angeles will likely have to rely on the bullpen today, but I think the Angels get it done.
The Pick: Los Angeles Angels +100
