Diamondbacks win third straight
Arizona has won three straight and five of its last six games thanks to a 3-2 win over the Dodgers in 11 innings to open the series on Friday night. The Diamondbacks are 59-57 on the season, 32-29 on the road and 57-53 with the over. Arizona has Alex Young on the mound tonight. He is 4-1 on the season with a 2.60 ERA.
Arizona actually had a chance to break this game open many times, as they had 12 hits, but the Diamondbacks stranded 12 baserunners. Carson Kelly powered the team to the win, hitting a two-run home run in the ninth to tie the game, and then a solo shot in the 11th to win it. Robbie Ray got the start and threw six innings, allowing two runs with seven strikeouts. Andrew Chafin got the win in relief while Archie Bradley got his third save of the year.
Dodgers end win streak
The Los Angeles Dodgers had their five-game win streak come to an end on Friday night in the 3-2 loss to Arizona. L.A. is 77-41 on the season, 46-16 at home and 58-55 with the under. The Dodgers have Kenta Maeda getting the start tonight. He is 7-8 on the season with a 4.37 ERA.
The Dodgers could only muster two hits over 11 innings on Friday night. Both hits were doubles, as Will Smith and Corey Seager got on base. Walker Buehler threw six scoreless innings and struck out eight in the game but didn’t take a decision. Kenley Jansen blew his fifth save of the year in the ninth and Julio Urias took the loss in relief.
MLB Betting Trends
Arizona
The Diamondbacks have won four straight division games and eight of their last 11 Saturday games.
Los Angeles
The Dodgers are 22-5 in their last 27 home games against a team with a winning road record and 40-18 in their last 58 games following a loss.
Prediction:
These two have split their last six meetings, with the home team winning five of them. Maeda has been in a real funk as of late, allowing 14 runs over his last three starts, a total of 11 innings of work. Young has been better, but not by a large margin, giving up eight runs over his last 16 innings. Maeda has pitched pretty well against Arizona, posting a 3.09 ERA over two starts. Los Angeles just doesn’t lose at home often and I don’t see them doing it back-to-back with the talent they have.
MLB Prediction: Los Angeles Dodgers -190
