Pirates score 10 in victory
Pittsburgh had no issues adjusting from the hitter’s haven of Coors Field to a pitcher’s park last night as it rolled to a 10-5 victory. Adam Frazier helped lead the offense as he was 3-for-4 with a run and two RBIs from the leadoff spot. David Freese finished 2-for-5 with a home run, two runs and three RBIs. Elias Diaz went 2-for-5 with a home run and two RBIs. Josh Bell ended the night 1-for-4 with a solo home run, a walk and two runs. Josh Harrison completed the game 2-for-4 with a run. Ivan Nova secured the win as he allowed two earned runs on three hits with three strikeouts and two walks over six innings.
Duggar has two-hit night
San Francisco center fielder Steven Duggar paced the hosts by going 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs in Thursday’s loss. Brandon Crawford was 1-for-3 with a walk and a run. Joe Panik finished 1-for-4 with a double, a run and two RBIs. Andrew Suarez took the loss as he allowed three earned runs on seven hits over five innings, striking out four and walking none.
Clay Holmes (1-1, 3.65 ERA) gets the call on the mound for the Pirates today, while the Giants turn to Derek Holland (5-8, 3.88).
MLB Betting Trends
Pittsburgh
The Pirates are 8-2 in their last 10 road games. Pittsburgh is 20-8 in its last 28 games overall.
San Francisco
The Giants are 1-8 in their last nine home games. San Francisco is 8-3 in Holland’s last 11 starts.
Prediction:
San Francisco can’t seem to buy a home win right now and its playoff chances are now very remote. Holmes has looked decent in his brief time in the MLB this season, while Holland will face a lineup full of hitters that are good against left-handed pitching. I’m surprised San Francisco is this big of a favorite and I’d expect it to tighten some throughout the day, so try and jump on the Pirates early.
