Rangers swept in doubleheader
Texas lost 2-0 and 5-1 Wednesday in a doubleheader at Cleveland to drop to 58-56 overall and 23-34 on the road. Lance Lynn took the loss in game two as he allowed two runs (one earned) on four hits with eight strikeouts and three walks over seven innings. Willie Calhoun led the Rangers offensively as he finished 2-for-3 with a solo home run. Isiah Kiner-Falefa ended the night 1-for-2. Shin-Soo Choo went 1-for-4. Kolby Allard will make his first start for the Rangers tonight after being acquired in a trade with Atlanta.
Brewers finish sweep at Pirates
Milwaukee won its third straight game Wednesday night at Pittsburgh with an 8-3 victory. Keston Hiura paced the Brewers offense as he ended the game 3-for-4 with two home runs, a double, three runs scored and three RBIs. Eric Thames went 1-for-5 with two RBIs. Lorenzo Cain finished 1-for-2 with two RBIs off the bench. Junior Guerra picked up the win in relief as he allowed one hit with one strikeout and one walk in two scoreless innings of relief. Gio Gonzalez draws the start for Milwaukee tonight as he comes in with a 2-1 record, 3.35 ERA and 1.18 WHIP with 40 strikeouts over 45 2/3 innings.
MLB Betting Trends
Texas
The Rangers are 5-2 in their last seven games overall. Texas is 1-4 in its last five road games.
Milwaukee
The Brewers are 7-2 in their last nine interleague home games. Milwaukee is 7-1 in its last eight Gonzalez home starts.
Prediction:
The Brewers having been playing good ball and Gonzalez has pitched reasonably well in his three starts since coming off the disabled list. With the Rangers offense struggling and a young pitcher putting some pressure on himself to make an impression, I think the hosts roll to a win tonight and am willing to take a shot on the runline.
