Angels doubled up at Reds
Los Angeles blew a 3-0 first inning lead by the bottom of the frame and eventually lost 8-4 Tuesday at Cincinnati. Justin Upton ended the game 1-for-2 with a home run, two walks and three RBIs to pace the offense. Mike Trout was 1-for-3 with a solo home run, a walk and two runs scored. David Fletcher went 2-for-5 with a run scored. Jose Suarez took the loss as he allowed six earned runs on 10 hits with three strikeouts and one walk over five innings. Dillon Peters will start tonight for the Angels as he enters with a 2-0 record, 3.20 ERA and 1.42 WHIP with 19 strikeouts over 25 1/3 innings.
Royals-Red Sox suspended by weather
Boston had its series finale at home versus Kansas City suspended by rain with the score tied at 4-4 in the 10th inning Wednesday night. The game will be resumed August 22. J.D. Martinez helped lead the Red Sox offense as he finished 2-for-5 with a home run and two RBIs. Xander Bogaerts went 3-for-5 with a double, a run and two RBIs. Mookie Betts was 2-for-4 with a walk and a run scored. Chris Sale will start today for the Red Sox as he enters with a 5-11 record, 4.68 ERA and 1.14 WHIP with 193 strikeouts over 132 2/3 innings pitched.
MLB Betting Trends
Los Angeles
The Angels are 1-4 in their last five Thursday games. Los Angeles is 0-5 in its last five road games.
Boston
The Red Sox are 1-5 in their last home games. Boston is 2-5 in the last seven Sale starts.
Prediction:
Boston has really been in a funk the last couple weeks right after playing some of its best baseball previously. This sport is weird like that. Sale hasn’t been himself most of the year, but he still has a dynamite strikeout rate and many dominant starts to his credit. With the very hittable Peters on the other end, I think the Red Sox bust out the bats behind a strong Sale start and win on the runline.
