Toronto was on a nice five-game win streak last week, but then lost their last two games in Baltimore this weekend. The Blue Jays are 45-69 overall, 25-35 on the road and 55-55 with the over/under total. Toronto has Jacob Waguespack on the mound today. He is 2-1 on the season with a 4.80 ERA.
The Blue Jays are putting up 4.48 runs per game this season while batting .237 as a team. On the mound, Toronto has a 4.75 team ERA with a 1.44 team WHIP. Freddy Galvis is leading the team with 22 doubles, 18 home runs and 54 RBI. Vlad Guerrero Jr. is having a great second half so far and now has 19 doubles, 13 home runs and 49 RBI for the season.
Rays on fire
Tampa is riding a six-game win streak coming into tonight’s game after a pair of wins over Miami this weekend. The Rays have scored at least six runs in seven straight games. Tampa is now 65-48 overall, 30-26 at home and 54-50 with the under. The Rays send Charlie Morton to the mound today. He is 12-3 on the year with a 2.78 ERA.
The Rays are slowly climbing up the hitting rankings. They are putting up 4.75 runs per game while batting .256 as a team. On the mound, Tampa is one of the best in the league. The Rays have a 3.58 team ERA with a 1.17 WHIP. They also have 1,093 strikeouts. Austin Meadows is leading the team with 17 doubles, 18 home runs and 53 RBI. Avisail Garcia is adding 18 doubles, 14 home runs and 51 RBI.
MLB Betting Trends
Toronto
The Blue Jays are 5-2 in their last seven road games, but just 7-16 in their last 23 division games.
Tampa Bay
The Rays have won six straight against right-handed starters and they are 22-5 in their last 27 Monday games.
Prediction:
Tampa has won seven of the nine meetings with Toronto this year. Morton has been one of the team’s best starters. He has struggled a little as of late, but has also faced the Red Sox and Yankees in his last three starts. Morton will welcome seeing Toronto today. He has a 1.93 ERA against the Jays this year. Waguespack has appeared in six games and he has given up six runs over nine innings against the Rays this year. I just don’t see Toronto stopping this Tampa train today.
MLB Prediction: Tampa Bay Rays -1.5 (-125)
