Angels struggling
Los Angeles is coming off three losses to the Indians in Cleveland. The Angels have lost four straight and eight of their last 10 coming into tonight. Los Angeles is 56-57 on the season, 27-29 on the road and 54-52 with the under. The Angels have Patrick Sandoval on the mound today. He is making his MLB debut tonight.
For the season, Los Angeles ranks 11th in batting with 5.02 runs per game while hitting .255 as a team. On the mound, the Angels have a 4.94 team ERA with a 1.37 team WHIP. Mike Trout is leading the squad with 26 doubles, 36 home runs and 87 RBI. Albert Pujols is adding 14 doubles, 17 home runs and 63 RBI.
Reds trying to heat up
The Reds are coming off a four-game split with the Braves in Atlanta. They have won six of their last nine games coming into tonight. Cincinnati is 52-58 overall, 29-26 at home and 66-41 with the under. Luis Castillo gets the start for the Reds tonight. He is 10-4 on the season with a 2.63 ERA.
Cincinnati has a strong pitching staff, as the Reds have a 4.02 team ERA with a 1.28 team WHIP. At the plate, the Reds are putting up 4.48 runs per game while hitting .246 as a squad. Cincinnati traded away one of its best bats last week in Yasiel Puig, who had 15 doubles, 22 home runs and 61 RBI. Eugenio Suarez is leading the way with 17 doubles, 29 home runs and 71 RBI.
MLB Betting Trends
Los Angeles
The Angels have won five straight interleague games and seven of their last nine against a losing team.
Cincinnati
The Reds have won four of their last five home games, but are just 4-9 in their last 13 interleague home games.
Prediction:
Castillo has been one of the top arms for a strong Cincinnati pitching staff. He has been particularly strong at home, posting a 2.20 ERA with 85 strikeouts over 13 starts. The Angels are turning to a first-time starter in the league while already on a losing skid. I don’t see the Angels being able to put up enough run support to help Sandoval, who is likely to have a mediocre first start.
MLB Prediction: Cincinnati Reds -210
