Cincinnati Reds Fantasy Spin
Joey Votto carried the load for the Reds’ offense on Friday against the Braves by going 2-for-3 with a homer, a walk, three RBI, two runs scored, and a stolen base. Votto got the Reds on the board with a two-run homer in the first inning and later cashed in an insurance run with a sacrifice fly in the fourth. He’s now slugged three homers in his last 10 games. We’ve grown accustomed to seeing Votto choke up with the bat, but he’s abandoned that in recent days and has been hitting the ball with more authority. It’s something to watch moving forward.
Atlanta Braves Fantasy Spin
Ronald Acuna, Jr. went 1-for-4 with a solo home run against the Reds on Friday. It was a bomb which traveled 463 feet beyond the left-center field fence. Checking in at 115.5 mph in terms of exit velocity, Sarah Langs of MLB.com notes that it was the hardest-hit home run by any Braves player since Statcast began tracking in 2015. After hitting 26 homers through 111 games as a rookie last year, he now has 26 homers through 110 games this year.
MLB Betting Trends
Cincinnati
The Reds are 5-2 in their last seven games overall but just 2-5 in their last seven games against National League East opponents.
Atlanta
The Braves have won five of their last six games against a right-handed starter and are 12-5 in their last 17 games coming off a loss.
Prediction:
The Reds offer bettors good value with Bauer set to make his debut tonight but I don’t feel as though either side gives bettors more value than the total. The under is a perfect 4-0 in the last four meetings between these two teams and is 4-1-1 in the last six meetings at SunTrust Park. The under is also a perfect 8-0 in Keuchel’s first eight starts with the Braves and is 12-3-1 in the Braves’ last 16 home games. On the other side, the under is 17-7-1 in the Reds’ last 25 games coming off a win and is 34-16-1 in their last 51 games overall.
The Pick: Reds/Braves UNDER 8.5
