Updated World Series Odds, post-deadline
LAS VEGAS, NV (The Spread) – Following a hectic MLB trade deadline, here’s a look at the updated odds to win the 2015 World Series.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book GT Bets, Ned Yost and the Royals are 4/1 favorites to win the World Series this season while the Dodgers are 7/1 and the Cardinals are 8/1. The Nationals are also 9/1 while the Yankees are 10/1 and the Astros are 12/1. The defending World Series champion Giants are currently 14/1 to win this year’s Fall Classic.
The Blue Jays, Astros, Rangers and Dodgers all turned heads with big moves at the trade deadline this year. Toronto landed former Colorado shortstop Troy Tulowitzki and former Detroit ace David Price to steal most of the headlines, while Houston acquired pitchers Scott Kazmir and Mike Fiers, as well as outfielder Carlos Gomez. Texas, meanwhile, traded for ace Cole Hamels while Los Angeles landed starting pitchers Mat Latos and Alex Wood, as well as relievers Jim Johnson and Luis Avilan.
The Royals made a significant move themselves in acquiring ace Johnny Cueto from the Reds, while the Giants made a smaller move with Cincinnati in trading for reliable starter Mike Leake. In one of the bigger deals on Friday, the Mets traded for former Detroit slugger Yoenis Cespedes after landing Juan Uribe and Kelly Johnson earlier in the week.
