McNeil, Conforto lead charge in 11th
New York scored three runs in the top of the 11th inning on a two-run home run by Jeff McNeil and a solo homer courtesy of Michael Conforto to secure a 5-2 victory Tuesday night at Chicago. Conforto ended the game 3-for-5 with the home run, a double, a walk and two runs scored. McNeil was 2-for-6 with the home run. Amed Rosario finished 4-for-5 with a stolen base and a run scored. Robert Gsellman picked up the win in relief as he struck out two over two perfect innings. In 129 innings of work this season, deGrom has a 6-7 record with a 2.86 ERA and 1.09 WHIP plus 163 strikeouts.
Sanchez reaches base four times in loss
Chicago lost by a count of 5-2 in 11 innings Tuesday night at home to drop to 46-58 overall and 27-26 at home. Yolmer Sanchez paced the White Sox offense as he went 2-for-2 with two walks, a stolen base and a run scored. Ryan Goins was 1-for-4 off the bench with a double, a walk and a run. Adam Engel ended the contest 1-for-4. Jose Ruiz took the loss in relief as he allowed one earned run on one hit with no strikeouts or walks in one-third of an inning. Lucas Giolito gets the start tonight for Chicago as he comes in with an 11-5 record, 3.52 ERA and 1.12 WHIP with 141 strikeouts over 117 2/3 innings.
MLB Betting Trends
New York
The Mets are 5-1 in their last six interleague games. New York is 2-7 in the last nine deGrom road starts.
Chicago
The White Sox are 1-6 in their last seven home games. Chicago is 6-2 in the last eight Giolito home starts.
Prediction:
Chicago struggles against power right-handed pitching as shown last night against Noah Syndergaard. With deGrom in a groove lately and the Mets actually supporting him, I like New York’s chances to continue its hot stretch. Giolito hasn’t been as good over the last month or so and I like the Mets offense to score just enough to support their ace pitcher.
