Mariners complete sweep over Tigers
Seattle earned a 3-2 home victory in 10 innings Sunday afternoon over Detroit to win its fifth game in a row. Domingo Santana helped lead the Mariners offense as he ended the game 2-for-4 with a solo home run. J.P. Crawford was 1-for-5 with the game-winning RBI single in the 10th. Kyle Seager went 1-for-3 with a double, a walk and an RBI. Roenis Elias picked up the win in relief as he gave up one hit with one strikeout and no walks in one scoreless frame. Mike Leake draws the start tonight as he enters with a 9-8 record, 4.25 ERA and 1.23 WHIP with 98 strikeouts over 131 1/3 innings.
Rangers edged at A’s
Texas allowed two runs in the bottom of the ninth inning Sunday afternoon as it fell 6-5 at Oakland. Danny Santana paced the Rangers offense as he finished 3-for-4 with a solo home run, a double, a walk and two runs scored. Nomar Mazara was 2-for-4 with a homer, two runs and two RBIs. Willie Calhoun went 1-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Jose Leclerc took the loss in relief as he gave up two earned runs on two hits with no strikeouts and three walks over one-third of an inning. MLB Betting Trends
Seattle
The Mariners are 1-8 in the last nine Leake road starts. Seattle is 6-21 in its last 27 Tuesday games.
Texas
The Rangers are 3-11 in their last 14 games overall. Texas is 8-3 in the last 11 meetings.
Prediction:
While I don’t really trust either pitcher here, I trust Leake even less in a hitter’s park on the road. Jurado has had some quality moments this season and really settled into a groove after a rough start his last outing. He should get plenty of offensive support to make up for some mistakes. Seattle might be on a winning streak, but four of those wins came against MLB-worst Detroit.
