Villar has three hits in loss
Baltimore was unable to complete the four-game sweep at the Angels Sunday afternoon as it gave up a run in the bottom of the ninth inning to fall 5-4. Jonathan Villar led the Orioles offense as he went 3-for-4 with a double, a stolen base, a run scored and two RBIs. Trey Mancini was 1-for-4 with two RBIs. Hanser Alberto ended the game 1-for-3 with a run scored. Mychal Givens took the loss in relief as he allowed one earned run on one hit with no strikeouts or walks over one-third of an inning. Baltimore has not yet decided on its starting pitcher for tonight’s contest.
Padres rally falls short
San Diego allowed two runs in the top half of the ninth inning to go down three runs before scoring twice in the bottom half, falling short in a 7-6 home loss to San Francisco Sunday afternoon. Hunter Renfroe helped pace the Padres offensively as he went 1-for-3 with a home run and four RBIs. Wil Myers finished 1-for-3 with a homer, a walk and two RBIs. Fernando Tatis Jr. was 2-for-3 with a run scored. Luis Perdomo took the loss in relief as he allowed three earned runs on eight hits over four innings, striking out two and walking one. Chris Paddack will start tonight for San Diego as he comes in with a 6-5 record, 2.84 ERA and 0.89 WHIP with 99 strikeouts over 95 innings.
MLB Betting Trends
Baltimore
The Orioles are 41-109 in their last 150 road games. Baltimore is 8-21 in its last 29 Monday games.
San Diego
The Padres are 4-1 in the last five Paddack home starts. San Diego is 1-9 in its last 10 home games.
Prediction:
Paddack is having an awesome rookie season and his last three starts have been on the road, so returning home where he’s been great most of the time should allow him to remain in his comfort zone. Baltimore’s offense is due for regression and we don’t even know which mediocre pitcher it is going to put on the mound. Take the Padres with confidence here.
