Halos Trade For Teixeira
The Los Angeles Angels acquired slugging first baseman Mark Teixeira from the Atlanta Braves on Tuesday, a bold trade that further bolsters the team with the best record in the major leagues.
The Angels, with a whopping 11 1/2-game lead in the AL West and primed for a World Series run, sent first baseman Casey Kotchman and minor league pitcher Steve Marek to Atlanta.

Clearly oddsmakers like what the Angels have done adding Teixeira. Before the acquisition, the Angels’ odds to win the 2008 World Series were set at 13/2. After the addition of Teixeira, oddsmakers from online sports book SBG Global have set the Angels’ odds to win at 5/1.
Teixeira adds a quality bat to an already solid Angels’ lineup. With the way they’ve handled the Boston Red Sox this season, L.A. might emerge as the favorites in the American League over the next month.
“We’re pleased to bring Mark into the Angels family,” Angels general manager Tony Reagins said. “He is a tremendous player and we feel he will impact our club in a very positive way.”
