Indians keep rolling
Cleveland earned a third straight win on Friday night by picking up an 8-3 victory over the Royals. The Indians are 61-42 on the season, 29-21 on the road and 56-44 with the under. Mike Clevinger gets the start for Cleveland tonight. He is 4-2 on the season with a 3.61 ERA.
Zach Plesac threw seven strong innings, not giving up an earned run, to get the win on Friday and improve to 5-3. He struck out four while allowing six hits. At the plate, Cleveland was led by Jose Ramirez, who had two hits and three RBI. He also hit his 12th home run of the season. Francisco Lindor added three hits with a RBI while Mike Freeman drove in a pair of runs.
Royals stumble
Kansas City took a 14-inning loss to Cleveland on Thursday and then suffered the 8-3 loss on Friday night. KC is 39-66 on the season, 22-31 at home and 51-48 with the over. The Royals have Glenn Sparkman getting the start this evening. He is 3-6 on the season with a 4.67 ERA.
Jake Junis took the loss on Friday night, allowing six runs over six innings on 10 hits. He is now 6-9 on the season. Hunter Dozier, Whit Merrifield and Humberto Arteage each drove in a run for the Royals on Friday night. KC finished the game with nine hits, as they stranded eight runs.
MLB Betting Trends
Cleveland
The Indians are 10-1 in their last 11 road games and 20-6 in their last 26 games on grass.
Kansas City
The Royals are just 2-10 in their last 12 Saturday games and 3-7 in Sparkman’s last 10 starts.
Prediction:
The Tribe has had KC’s number for most of the season, winning eight of the last nine meetings. Today, the Indians have Clevinger on the mound and he has been heating up, giving up just five runs over his last four starts. That includes six shutout innings against the Royals. Sparkman has been struggling for the most part. Outside of a complete game shutout against the White Sox, he has given up at least four runs in four of his last five starts. He carries a 7.15 ERA against the Indians over two starts this season. I think the Indians will continue to roll behind Clevinger tonight.
MLB Prediction: Cleveland Indians -1.5 (-130)
