St. Louis Cardinals Fantasy Spin
Paul Goldschmidt went deep for the second straight game Tuesday in Pittsburgh. After slugging a go-ahead grand slam in extra innings Monday, Goldschmidt smacked one just fair down the left field line in the third inning Tuesday for a two-run homer which tied things up at the time. It was his lone hit on the night, just as his dinger Monday was his only hit. Goldy does have six homers over his last 15 games to give him an even 20 on the season.
Pittsburgh Pirates Fantasy Spin
Starling Marte popped a three-run home run in Tuesday’s loss to the Cardinals. Marte followed a single and a walk to start the game with a three-run bomb to give the Pirates an early lead. The Bucs’ offense went into hibernation after that, though, as Dakota Hudson and the Cards’ bullpen got the next 27 outs without allowing a run. The long ball was Marte’s 17th on the season.
MLB Betting Trends
St. Louis
The Cardinals are 6-1 in their last seven games overall and have won five of their last six road games.
Pittsburgh
The Pirates are just 1-4 in their last five games played at PNC Park and have dropped five of six overall.
Prediction:
The under is 4-1 in the Pirates’ last five games and is 6-2 in their last eight games versus a right-handed starter. The under is also 5-1 in Pittsburgh’s last six games coming off a loss and has cashed in four of its last five home games when facing an opponent with a winning record. On the other side, the under is 6-2 in Adam Wainwright’s last eight starts and is 9-4 in the Cardinals’ last 13 games.
The Pick: Cardinals/Pirates UNDER 9.5
