Gregorius, Hicks lead way to win
Didi Gregorius drove in seven runs, while Aaron Hicks hit a go-ahead home run and later made a game-saving diving catch in the 10th inning as New York topped host Minnesota by a count of 14-12. Gregorius finished the contest a perfect 5-for-5 with a home run, two doubles, two runs scored and seven RBIs. Hicks went 2-for-5 at the dish with a home run, a walk, two runs scored and two RBIs. Aaron Judge went 3-for-6 with two doubles, two runs and two RBIs. Aroldis Chapman picked up the win in relief as he gave up one earned run on no hits with no strikeouts and three walks over one inning. Chad Green retired the only batter he faced to earn the save. J.A. Happ gets the start tonight as he enters with an 8-5 record, 4.86 ERA and 1.30 WHIP with 84 strikeouts over 100 innings.
Sano drives in five in heartbreaking loss
Minnesota lost 14-12 in 10 innings at home against New York Tuesday night in a back-and-forth wild game. Miguel Sano helped pace the Twins offensively as he finished 2-for-6 with two home runs and five RBIs. Nelson Cruz went 1-for-5 with a solo home run and two runs scored. Jorge Polanco finished 3-for-5 with a home run, a double, two runs and three RBIs. Kohl Stewart took the loss as he gave up two earned runs on three hits with no strikeouts or walks over one inning of work. Jake Odorizzi draws the start tonight for Minnesota as he comes in with an 11-4 record, 3.18 ERA and 1.13 WHIP with 101 strikeouts over 99 innings.
MLB Betting Trends
New York
The Yankees are 7-1 in the last eight Happ road starts. New York is 57-25 in its last 82 games overall.
Minnesota
The Twins are 5-1 in the last six Odorizzi Wednesday starts. Minnesota is 1-4 in its last five games versus a left-handed starter.
Prediction:
Both bullpens here are taxed, so the starters might be relied on a little longer than usual. I actually trust Happ to go a little deeper in this one as Odorizzi hasn’t quite been himself since a dominant first two months and now he faces a power-packed lineup. I like New York to continue where it left off last night and post another win.
