Royals bounce back
After suffering a 10-5 loss to the Indians on Friday, Kansas City bounced back on Saturday with a 1-0 victory over the Tribe. KC is now 37-63 on the year, 15-34 on the road and 50-44 with the over. The Royals have Glenn Sparkman on the mound today. He is 3-5 on the season with a 4.54 ERA.
Jake Junis threw six scoreless innings to get his sixth win of the season. He improves to 6-8 on the year. The KC bullpen threw three innings of 1-hit ball, with Ian Kennedy earning his 17th save of the season. The lone run for the Royals came on a Hunter Dozier solo home run in the first inning. Cam Gallagher was the lone KC player with multiple hits.
Indians end win streak
Cleveland had its six-game win streak come to an end on Saturday in the shutout loss to the Royals. The Tribe are now 56-41 on the season, 31-21 at home and 52-42 with the under. Cleveland has Zach Plesac getting the start tonight. He is 3-3 on the season with a 3.56 ERA.
The Indians were held to just three hits in Saturday’s loss. Greg Allen had the only double for the Tribe. Adam Plutko had a solid start, but took the loss over the lack of run support. Plutko threw seven innings and allowed the one run on two hits with four strikeouts. He is 3-2 on the year.
MLB Betting Trends
Kansas City
The Royals are 1-5 in Sparkman’s last six starts and 9-25 in their last 34 Sunday games.
Cleveland
The Indians have won five straight Sunday games and seven of their last nine games against a right-handed starter.
Prediction:
The Indians had been hitting well as of late, but couldn’t find anything on Saturday. I think that will change today. Sparkman is coming off a shutout against the White Sox, but that’s been a far cry from what he has been doing most of the year. He gave up five runs in 5.2 innings in his lone start against the Tribe this year. Plesac has been pretty good on the mound outside of one poor outing against the Royals. I think he can silence the Royals hitting today. KC has just six runs over the two games, so I don’t think Cleveland needs to worry about a shootout today.
MLB Prediction: Cleveland Indians -220
