Tigers beat up again
Detroit has lost eight of its last nine games following a 7-2 loss to Cleveland on Wednesday night. All eight losses have been by multiple runs. Detroit is now 29-62 overall, 17-30 on the road and 45-40 with the under. The Tigers have Matthew Boyd getting the start today. He is 6-7 on the season with a 3.95 ERA.
Spencer Turnbull once again pitched competitively, only to get no run support and have his bullpen not aid him. He fell to 3-9 on the season by allowing three runs over six innings. The Detroit pen then gave up five runs over three innings. At the plate, the Tigers scattered eight hits. Nicholas Castellanos had two hits and scored two runs. He also had his 10th home run of the season.
Indians add to win streak
Cleveland is on a four-game win streak right now thanks to Wednesday’s 7-2 win over the Tigers. Cleveland is 54-40 on the season, 29-20 at home and 52-39 with the under. The Indians have Trevor Bauer getting the start tonight. He is 8-7 on the season with a 3.65 ERA.
Mike Clevinger continued his positive swing on the mound on Wednesday. He threw six innings and allowed just one run on six hits with 12 strikeouts. Clevinger is now 3-2 on the year. Jose Ramirez led the Tribe at the plate with three hits and two runs while Oscar Mercado and Greg Allen each drove in two runs. Francisco Lindor added his 15th home run of the year.
MLB Betting Trends
Detroit
The Tigers are 1-7 in their last eight Thursday games and 7-20 in their last 27 AL Central games.
Cleveland
The Indians have won eight of their last nine games following a win and 17-5 in their last 22 games against a left-handed starter.
Prediction:
The Tigers are a disaster. Even when they have good pitching, they don’t hit. When they hit well, they don’t pitch well. The Tigers struggle to find any formula to win. Today, Boyd takes the mound. He has allowed at least four runs in five straight starts. Bauer hasn’t been on his best game at times, but he still has the ability to lockdown opponents. In three starts against Detroit, he has just a 4.34 ERA. However, that may be just fine. The Detroit arms aren’t going to slow down Cleveland today
MLB Prediction: Cleveland Indians -1.5 (-105)
